Welcome to FifeServe.Com
The FifeServe Project began several years ago as a way of testing different design methods for the construction of web sites. In this respect, we were able to experiment with alternative systems and then gauge the merits and brickbats. We used content about Fife and Scotland to illustrate issues and problems that might be encountered in real commercial projects.
It was an exploration of fast, efficient, cost-effective and highly competitive methodologies intended to create Internet web sites at lower cost yet including high value features. From the outset, the project was sponsored by Advision Professional Services of Glenrothes.
Today, and after many ongoing revisions, this web site forms entirely different purposes in that it seeks to describe many aspects of life in Fife, Scotland and even the World in a more radical fashion. Topics are typically selected because they demonstrate important aspects and where less information about these are available on the Internet or elsewhere.
Consequently, there aren't many references to the main cities of Scotland because there's more than enough material out there already and where inclusion would often involve repetition. It's one of the aims of this web site to minimise repetition and thus present a different perspective.
Obviously, it's impossible to avoid repetition entirely and where key events of history took place, but even in this sphere, it's been possible to re-examine events from an actual and neutral viewpoint rather than a glossy overview of moments in time that left profound effects leading to our modern World.
In some cases, we offer speculation about what might have happened if serendipity had swayed the pendulum of chance in a different direction.
From a pragmatic perspective, we also have links and useful tools to help readers in daily life. As the picture above reveals, the editor of this web site has several far different occupations to one that might be supposed and where involvement in technology features highly. This web site is thus updated whenever time is available rather than on a regular basis.
